Get to Know Silvia Navarro!
Posted by Silvia Navarro in Staff Stories | Sep 22, 2010
If there is one person in this office, you should know (and there is at least one person, because this is an office full of really great people!), it’s Silvia Navarro! Silvia is the person who keeps this place running! Not only does she sit at the front of the office and greets you with a warm smile as you come in, but she also acts as our Registrar (liaison between our academic program and your campuses academic offices), and our Operations Manager (meaning, we can’t operate without her!). She does a lot of various tasks that help keep this office functioning; here is a little sneak peek into who she is (but don’t forget to say “hi” to her and get to know her when you’re here!):
I joined the Chicago Semester team in August 2004 while attending Robert Morris University for my B.A. in Business. As Operations Manager it is my responsibility to make sure the CS office space runs smoothly so all of you can have a place to study, attend class and relax. I am also responsible for setting up many of the different student related events throughout the semester. As Registrar a lot of your student documents come my way. I receive and process all the applications, registration forms, fees, and grades.
I grew up in Chicago, and the city has treated me very well. One thing I love about this city is its diversity. You really don’t have to travel outside the country to experience other cultures, languages, foods, or arts…we have them all here! I like art, music, reading, tennis, biking, animals, traveling and learning about other cultures. I’m also working on becoming tri-lingual (English, Spanish, and Portuguese).
