Internship Update: Find Out What the Coordinators are Up to Now October 12, 2010
Posted by Leslie Lehner in Internships | Oct 12, 2010
So, what are those people who help find internships up to these days? Here’s what they have to say:
Our fall students are settled into their internships and we are now actively working with the spring 2011 students to determine what they would like to do and learn in their internships for the spring semester. We’ve sent the “general” students a description of what we think they are hoping to find based on the information in their applications, and are working with them so that we know to what types of places to send their information. (The nursing, social work and student teacher internships are set up a little differently -- we’ll let others speak to that.) We’ve also asked these spring 2011 general students to send us updated copies of their resumes and are providing comments about the resumes. If you want some information as to what we’d like to see included in your resume, please look at our website.
Once the internship descriptions and resumes are ready, we’ll make some decisions about the places that we’ll ask to consider interviewing these students and will send information to those sites. Some sites will say “yes, that’s great, sign me up” and others will say “sorry, not this time”. We’ll keep contacting sites until we have a couple of interviews lined up for each of these general students. During orientation, it will then be up to the student to present him/herself well and to talk with the sites about whether his/her interests match the site’s needs. We hope students will feel free to contact us with any questions or thoughts they have as we move through this process. The more students are involved, the better the experience!
