Our Spring 2019 Semester wrapped up last week. We are so proud of everything that our CS’ers accomplished while in Chicago! Below are some final reflections and memories from a couple of our semester bloggers. Thanks for following along this semester!

Chicago semester has given me the opportunity to explore the world of urban education. I have been emotionally, professionally, personally, and spiritually stretched. Before beginning this, I thought that I had a passion and calling to work in schools in this setting. Chicago Semester was able to give me confirmation of that passion and calling by giving experience in classrooms with the support of staff and professors as I learned to navigate this environment. The city of Chicago now holds a piece of my heart, and I have Chicago Semester to thank for that.

The final days of the semester were just as sweet as the first. As I wrapped up my time in my internship, I spent a good amount of time reflecting on all the lessons I had learned throughout it and showing my gratefulness to my coworkers. Personally, I grew into the role of a professional nurse and had truly felt like a part of the family at Mercy Hospital. From my time there, I have gained skills both within my discipline and outside of it that I will take into all aspects of my life, both in personal and professional sectors. As I head into my first nursing job and graduate school at Wayne State University, I know that I leave CS more than prepared for the challenges ahead. My favorite memory was the time two CS students and I went to the 96th floor on the John Hancock Building for deserts. The view, for me, was the most memorable part (besides, of course, the great company and conversation).
